Private C Bentham
(York & Lancs)
Private Bentham was in the July advance, and just got over the parapet when he was wounded in the leg. Before he could turn he was wounded in the shoulder. He fell down and while he lay a piece of shrapnel wounded him again in the same shoulder. He was unconscious about three hours, and then crawled back into a dug out.
He has since been transferred to Wrexham hospital where he is progressing as favourably as can be expected.
Note: He died from his wounds on July 23rd and is buried in Kilnhurst Church Cemetery
