Death of an old Kilnhurst resident

The late Mr H.T. Treece of Doncaster

Many people in Kilnhurst will regret to hear of the death of Mr H.T. Treece, of the Reindeer Hotel, Doncaster, whose death took place on Monday last, and who was for many years the manager of the grocery department at the Kilnhurst Co-operative Society Stores.

He was popular with all classes and was President of the Doncaster and District Licensed Victuallers Association for four years, retiring from the position last year owing to indifferent health.

Mr Treece served his apprenticeship in the grocery business of the Doncaster Co-operative Society and managed the grocery department in Spring Gardens afterwards. He also managed the Central Stores, Doncaster after which he came to Kilnhurst and successfully managed the Kilnhurst stores for somewhere about 10 or 12 years, the Society flourishing under his managership.

He leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. Doctor Selby has attended during his illness and Doctor Barr of Leeds, was called in for a consultation and an operation was deemed necessary.

The funeral took place yesterday (Thursday) at Doncaster cemetery amid manifestations of regret.
