Wilfred Barnes (30), of High Thorn Rd, Kilnhurst, who appeared before Rotherham West Riding magistrates on Monday for the third time, charged with stealing £3591 1s 8d belonging to Messrs John Baker and Bessemer Ltd, while an employee and seven and with falsification of accounts, was further remanded until January 4, 1952.

He was allowed bail, fixed in a personal surety of £50, and two others of £50 each.

Chief Superintendent J.L.Done asking for the remand said that the case will be taken by the County Prosecutor. Barnes had surrendered to the police after he had absconded to London.

For Barnes, Mr Donald Dunn said his client was a man of good character and had never been in trouble before. He had acted stupidly in leaving the district.
