Suicide at Kilnhurst

On Wednesday afternoon, the body of William Hill 68 years of age, miner of Green Lane, and former landlord of the Rock Tavern, High Thorn, was found hanging in a shed near the river Don by Mr W.H. Rawbottom and Mr W. Barlow.

The deceased left home on Monday afternoon about 4 o’clock, when he did not return and fears are entertain that something had befallen him. Therefore a search was made for him.

The deceased was of a quiet nature was highly respected and had worked at the Thrybergh Hall colliery 29 years, but during the last three months have been off work ill.

Deceased leaves a wife and grown-up family.

The funeral will take place at Kilnhurst church on Sunday
