Lay Reader 

Mr. Herbert Hicks, B.A. son of Mrs and the late Mr. T. Hicks, 118 Meadow View, is to be licensed as a lay reader at the Kilnhurst Parish Church on Sunday by the Bishop of Sheffield.

Mr. Hicks, who is 22, began his education at Kilnhurst Council School, went to Mexborough Secondary School and from there to St. Bede’s College, Durham, where he gained his B.A. 

He is well known in the district, associating himself with most of its social activities, and has an excellent reputation as preacher and speaker.
