Kilnhurst Town were again engaged in a Cup tie last weekend, this time with Greasborough in the Montague Charity Cup competition.

The narrowness of the victory obtained by Kilnhurst 1-0, scored by A Burkinshaw, was surprising, seeing that the “Wasps” were at home, but the visitors put up and expectedly good fight in a game described as absolutely poor.

Considering the comparative weakness of Greasborough, it is evident that the stronger the team opposed to them the better Kilnhurst play. There follows that it was a sad contrast to the splendid display against Denaby United in the Sheffield Challenge Cup tie a few weeks back.

Still the match was won, and Kilnhurst, along with Ecclesfield church, Thurnscoe United and Parkgate and Rawarsh are now within measurable distance of handling the cup. On paper, indeed, the “Wasps” should become the owners, but the prospect of the Parkgate and romance clubs, also the Sheffield Association Lee, cannot be underestimated. But if Kilnhurst only play up to their real form, they should make no mistake in either the semi-final or final
